Millers Ley is a beautiful Grade II listed home near Ashford, Kent, where we blended traditional craftsmanship with modern garden design to create elegant, functional outdoor spaces. Our goal was to revive the property’s period charm while adding comfort and usability for everyday living.

This project was all about combining classic design with modern practicality. We redesigned both the front and rear gardens to reflect the heritage of the house while introducing features that make the space easy to enjoy and maintain.
The property’s generous frontage needed a sympathetic upgrade, so we replaced the plain tarmac drive with an expansive gravel driveway. This instantly improved kerb appeal and echoed the home’s rural character. We also constructed a detached garage in traditional blockwork, finished with oak cladding and a hand-laid Kent peg-tiled roof — combining timeless materials with expert craftsmanship.

A delightful front garden
Attention to detail was key to this project’s success. The front garden now features beautifully planted borders filled with colour and texture. A gravel path edged by a low reclaimed-brick wall leads towards a bespoke timber gate, handcrafted to complement the architecture. The result is a front approach that feels welcoming, refined, and perfectly in tune with the property’s heritage.
Back garden tranquility
Stepping into the back garden reveals a calm, inviting space designed for relaxation. A generous stone terrace framed by a low reclaimed-brick wall provides an elegant transition from house to garden. Beyond it, a re-levelled lawn, new brick pathways, and a cosy seating area make the garden ideal for quiet evenings or entertaining. We also added a practical garden shed with power and lighting — blending usefulness with style.
